I think the problem with Adam, Mercury, Emerald, etc being redeemed is that there is always going to be this wide subset of the audience bringing up their by actions whenever they make a bespeak. Like, Adam tin can bring upward how Faunus racism has been handled shit, someone responds "you made a fascist genocide cry over the body of your dead leader". Emerald points out their old Vale didn't aid the homeless like her, someone responds "you lot left thousands of other homeless, in worse atmospheric condition."

Yeah, that bringing upwards the by thing is pretty mutual, if frustrating. And information technology makes sense on the surface - practice bad affair, get punished. It's what we're taught growing upwardly.

But, to me, doing bad, horrific, fifty-fifty incomprehensibly savage things in the past does not stop a person from doing adept in the future or having valid points. You don't need to be "pure of heart" or intention to make a positive touch or valid observation and that mentality that you do, that there are very particular steps or agonies yous must endure to ""make up for"" past actions, i'thousand gonna slap a buzzword on it, kinda gatekeeps redemption.

Not to put likewise fine a signal on it, but you should always exist wary of reducing a character down to their worst actions, and you should be doubly wary of when the writers do that.
